CMRT’s vision is to improve links between mass media and sustainable rural development. It seeks to provide a platform for the rural populace to discuss their problems, find ways for a solution and become a partner in their growth. As part of the strategy, its focuses on areas concerning holistic development of rural communities, highlighting best practices by communities and training programs for journalist working at the rural level.


The mission of CMRT is to bridge the gap between media and social development sectors. It provides platform for facilitating meaningful communication between journalists and social communicators, with the purpose of raising public awareness on social issues. It tracks and analyses coverage of news relating to grass-root development to help the government and non-governmental organizations to chalk out programs for sustainable development.

CMRT’s mission is to sensitise journalists at the regional level to look beyond spot coverage of events and state government announcements and involve themselves at the community level.
