About Us

CMRT

CMRT focuses on education, health and community development. We seek to provide a platform for the rural populace to discuss their problems, find ways for a solution and become a partner in their growth.

Though media has an important role in influencing development outcomes and communicating health and education information to remote villages, its role in expressing issues related to grassroot development has been shrinking. CMRT seeks to improve links between mass media and sustainable rural development.

Our focus areas would be issues concerning holistic development of rural communities, highlighting best practices by communities and training programs for journalists working at the rural level.

Media Training

Training programs for journalists working at the regional level. Holding workshops on immunization, education and sanitation for regional media to help them build bridges with marginalized groups.

Sensitizing journalists at the regional level to look beyond spot coverage of events and state government announcements and involve themselves at the community level.

Media Monitoring

Media’s role in expressing rural issues has been shrinking over the times. To meet the challenge and work towards sustainable rural development, we need to enhance capacities of communicators.

Researching and analyzing print, television, online and social media news to understand the coverage of development issues.

Evolving a framework for rural journalist to discuss communication challenges and encourage research.

Highlighting best practices by rural communities in the field of health and education.

Supporting learning communities at the village level.

Sensitizing journalists at the regional level to look beyond spot coverage of events and state government announcements and involve themselves at the community level.

CMRT is an offshoot of Nagrik Foundation which has worked extensively in the rural sector on areas like health of children and adolescents. Educating children belonging to marginalized groups and helping create awareness about local problems has been our focus.

In this journey, we have partnered with UNICEF and many government bodies to take the goal forward
